Whether you’re motivated by the feel-good hormones, the calorie burn or the social aspect, taking part in a 10k run is a great way to feel accomplished. With the Shrewsbury 10k returning in 2021, we’ve outlined a few reasons why you should consider taking part!

A new challenge

Whether you’re an avid runner or a complete beginner, a 10k is a great way to challenge yourself.

Already a runner? Consider a 10K distance a great opportunity to work on your running speed. Can you shave off any time off your personal best? If you’re a beginner, don’t panic – a 10k is a realistic and achievable distance to train towards over a period of time. Build your way up to be able to run a 5k comfortably first, then look to set yourself a new 10K target. Make sure you increase your mileage slowly to build your stamina levels and avoid any injuries!

A fantastic sense of achievement

No matter the distance, a run event will always leave you feeling accomplished… nothing quite beats that feeling of passing the finishing line and knowing you’ve done something to boost your physical and mental wellbeing! Once you’ve finished one 10K run, we’re pretty sure you’ll be signing up to another!

A great way to fundraise

Why not give yourself a new motivation? A sponsored 10K run is a great way to drum up donations from family and friends and support a charity of your choice. When you fundraise for a charity, you join a network of like-minded people who are keen to make a difference. Knowing that you’re helping to generate donations and raise awareness will give you a new sense of purpose and a new motivation to keep training.
